This short documentary video on George Bush throwing out the first pitch in the World Series just a month after the attacks on 9/11, is undoubtedly inspirational. Growing up in the Northern New Jersey area, my Dad and many of his friends work in New York City. On September 11, 2001, two of our neighbors were killed. While I was only 5 years old, I will never forget that day for how tragic it truly was. The president throwing that pitch out did not make those who perished come back to life, but it characterized everything America stands for. That October night, with threats of a second wave of attacks looming, our President showed that we weren't afraid. Bullet proof vest and all, Derek Jeter made him throw the pitch from atop the mound, where the former little leaguer whizzed in a strike over the heart of the plate. As Derek Jeter said "If we can give these fans something to cheer about for 3 hours, then we're doing our job."
